I've been inside the supplement industry long enough to watch the same testosterone story get sold on repeat: find an herb with one small study, wrap it in a black label, call it a booster, charge $80. I've also read enough of the actual research to know why that story keeps falling apart.
So when I built the Testosterone Foundation Stack, I used a different rule: an ingredient earns its place by correcting something your body measurably needs, or by having real human data behind it — not by having a good marketing story. That's why it's called a foundation stack and not a booster. And it's why I'm comfortable walking you through the whole panel, including the parts where the evidence is thinner. The deficiency layer: where the strongest data lives
Zinc — 30 mg, as Albion® bisglycinate chelate. This is the story almost everyone leaves out. In controlled depletion research, restricting zinc lowered testosterone in otherwise healthy men, and supplementing marginally deficient men moved it back. That's very different from claiming zinc "boosts" testosterone in someone who's already replete — it doesn't. Zinc is here because low zinc status is common in hard-training men, and correcting it matters. It's dosed at 30 mg deliberately: with zinc, more is not better, which is also why the stack includes 2 mg of copper to keep the balance right.
Vitamin D3 — 125 mcg (5,000 IU). Here's an honest one: the better randomized trials in healthy men found vitamin D supplementation did not raise testosterone. I include it anyway — not as a booster, but because insufficiency is widespread, vitamin D status is foundational to a lot more than hormones, and it's paired here with 1,100 mcg of vitamin K2 (both MK-4 and MK-7 forms). If a company tells you D3 will boost your testosterone, they haven't read the trials.
Magnesium — 133 mg, as glycinate. There's an interesting signal in the research on magnesium and testosterone in active men, but I'll be straight: the evidence base is small. It's in the stack because magnesium status genuinely matters for sleep and recovery — which, as you'll see below, is where testosterone is actually won.
The stress layer
Ashwagandha — 380 mg organic root plus 95 mg extract standardized to 1.5% withanolides. This is the best-studied botanical in the stack. Multiple randomized trials have reported meaningful reductions in perceived stress and cortisol-related markers. The hormone findings are more modest and depend heavily on who was studied — stressed men respond differently than relaxed ones. I think of ashwagandha as working on the conditions testosterone production depends on, and the trial data support exactly that framing.
Six systems, one packet
The reason there are 31 ingredients in one daily packet isn't "more is better." It's that testosterone production doesn't run on any single nutrient — it depends on six biological systems, and the formula is organized so each system has its inputs covered. Here's the actual architecture, with every dose straight from the label:
1 · Micronutrient sufficiency — the foundation. The baseline vitamins, minerals, and trace elements most men are quietly missing: zinc (30 mg, Albion® bisglycinate), selenium (200 mcg as L-selenomethionine), iodine (200 mcg), vitamins A (600 mcg RAE) and E (33.5 mg), copper (2 mg — dosed deliberately to stay balanced against the zinc), manganese (4 mg), molybdenum (250 mcg), and silica from horsetail. Sufficiency is the unglamorous work everything else depends on.
2 · Hormone cofactors — the endocrine layer. The nutritional cofactors the hormone-production environment runs on: boron in two forms (10 mg glycinate + 200 mcg citrate), zinc, magnesium (133 mg as glycinate), selenium, vitamin A, and vitamin K2 in both forms — 1,000 mcg MK-4 plus 100 mcg MK-7. On boron, the honest note: higher doses may influence estrogen and testosterone levels, while a well-known bodybuilding trial found no effect on testosterone or strength. It's here as a cofactor, not a headline — and I'd rather tell you that than pretend.
3 · Hormone signaling. The nutrients that support endocrine communication and receptor activity: vitamin D3 (125 mcg / 5,000 IU — 625% DV), both K2 forms, vitamin A, zinc, and iodine. This is where the D3 genuinely belongs — supporting the signaling environment, not "boosting" a number.
4 · Stress & cortisol regulation. 475 mg total ashwagandha per packet (the 380 mg organic root + 95 mg standardized extract covered above), alongside magnesium, vitamin B6 (20 mg), pantothenic acid (100 mg), and inositol (40 mg) — adaptogenic and nutrient support for the stress response testosterone production has to live under.
5 · Metabolic & neuromuscular support. Energy utilization, glucose handling, and electrolyte balance under training load: magnesium and potassium, chromium polynicotinate (200 mcg), vanadium (150 mcg as BGOV), niacin (200 mg NE), riboflavin (17 mg), and choline.
6 · Energy & methylation. The full B-complex in its active forms — Metafolin® methylfolate (680 mcg DFE), methylcobalamin B12 (6 mcg), thiamin (15 mg), biotin (300 mcg), pantothenic acid, B6 — plus choline and PABA, supporting cellular energy production and one-carbon metabolism.
Notice that zinc, magnesium, and K2 each appear in multiple systems. That's the point of a consolidated formula: the overlaps are designed, not accidental — one packet does what a shelf of single bottles does, without you playing formulator.
One safety note straight from the label: all forms of vitamin K may interact with blood-thinning medications — consult your physician if you take anticoagulants.
What actually moves testosterone
Before any packet: sleep, strength training, and body composition. The research is unambiguous that those three move testosterone more than any supplement can. The stack exists to make sure nutrient status is never the thing holding those levers back — it's the floor, not the ceiling. Any company that sells you the packet without saying that is selling you the wrong story.
